Argireline acts in the same place as botox with a similar result, although softer and more reversible. To understand this we must know that in the skin we find nerve endings, where there is a protein complex responsible for releasing a messenger molecule, or "neurotransmitter", responsible for the contraction of the muscles when we gesture.
What happens if we inhibit the release of these molecules? The muscle relaxes. This is where botox and argireline come into play. The former irreversibly blocks the protein responsible for the release of the neurotransmitter, while the latter "tricks" it and binds to it in a reversible way. In the end, we achieve a reduction in the number and depth of skin wrinkles.
